Working to conserve dragonflies and their wetland habitats

Dragonfly Recording Network

DRN logoThe Dragonfly Recording Network has developed, in partnership with local organisations, a national system for collating and managing dragonfly records,

This alliance of organisations interested is led by the BDS and includes Biological Records Centres, Wildlife Trusts and Natural History Societies.  The dataflow diagram below shows that the key component of the DRN is the network of Vice County Recorders across the country.  Currently there are over sixty VCRs collecting, collating and verifying records in the 112 Great British Vice Counties.  The VCRs forward their records to the Dragonflies in Focus Officer who updates the DRN national records database.  Online records are sent to the VCRs for verification.  Data from the DRN database is made available on the NBN Gateway.
